Video: Nigerian ballet boy who went viral for dancing in the rain gets emotional as he prepares for America

Eleven-year-old Anthony Mmesoma Madu, Nigeria’s viral ballet dancer, has received multiple scholarships from around the world to pursue his passion.

One of those scholarships came from the prestigious Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis School at American Ballet Theatre in the US.

As Anthony prepares to embark on a journey of a lifetime in 2021, he describes how things have changed for him.

In an interview with BBC, the talented boy said: “I feel very, very happy because the viral video has brought so many opportunities. Since then, I won a scholarship to go to the US in the year 2021.”

Anthony has already begun online classes with the New York academy and he said the classes have been so amazing.

He said the classes have made him more active than he used to be.

“What I’m going to miss here is my parents and my siblings. And I’m also going to miss our academy because I used to come here every day.

“In my neighbourhood now, what has changed for me is that plenty people want to become my friends.” the boy said.

Chisom Chukwuneke, made straights A’s in the entrance exam and emerged the best student from her school, Graceland college in Enugu last year. She went on to win numerous academic awards in her school.

Okada men and Agodi prison officials clash in Ibadan (video)

A chaotic scene is currently being witnessed at Agodi community of Ibadan, Oyo state capital following a clash between okada riders and officials of the Agodi Correctional Facility.

 

It was alleged that the clash ensued after the death of an Okada man which was linked to a prison official.

Olugbenga Fadeyi, spokesman of Oyo state police command confirmed the incident and also disclosed that policemen have been deployed to curtail the violence.

“The truth is that there was a clash between officers of the correctional service and bike men stationed at agodi gate.

“One okada riders sustained injury and he was rushed to the University College Hospital. Our men moved in swift response to be able to curtail the menace of criminal elements. Are men are still there to ensure that okada riders do not take law into their hands.”
