Rihanna has apologized to the Muslim community for using a song featuring sacred Islamic texts as a soundtrack to her racy Savage x Fenty lingerie show.

 

On Friday, Oct. 2, Rihanna’s second annual show for her lingerie brand debuted on Amazon Prime Video sparked outrage amongst fans after models were seen dancing to “Doom,” a 2017 song by London-based producer Coucou Chloe featuring a snippet from the Hadith on judgement day.

 

 

The 32-year-old pop star has now apologized to those offended by the soundtrack in a heartfelt post she shared via her Instagram Story on Tuesday.

Rihanna said she was ‘incredibly disheartened’ knowing she had hurt ‘many of our Muslim brothers and sisters’, and called use of the song ‘completely irresponsible.’

 

‘I’d like to thank the Muslim community for pointing out a huge oversight that was unintentionally offensive in our savage x fenty show,’ Rihanna posted on Tuesday.

‘I would more importantly like to apologize to you for this honest, yet careless mistake. We understand that we have hurt many of our Muslim brothers and sisters, and I’m incredibly disheartened by this!

 

‘I do not play with any kind of disrespect toward God or any religion and therefore the use of the song in our project was completely irresponsible! Moving forward we will make sure nothing like this ever happens again. Thank you for your forgiveness and understanding.’

This comes a day after Coucou Chloe apologized for the controversial song in a Monday tweet:  “I want to deeply apologize for the [offense] caused by the vocal samples used in my song ‘DOOM.’ The song was created using samples from Baile Funk tracks I found online. At the time, I was not aware that these samples used text from an Islamic Hadith.”

Aston Villa captain and England footballer, Jack Grealish has pled guilty to two charges of careless driving, including one offence in connection with a car crash during the Coronavirus lockdown in March in the UK.

 

Back in March, the Aston Villa captain crashed his £80k Range Rover into a parked car in Dickens heath before leaving the scene.

It is believed he spent the night at a luxury flat, believed to belong to former teammate Ross McCormack.

Grealish was photographed at the scene looking confused wearing a pair of white slippers and a blue Givenchy hoodie.

The incident happened barely 24 hours after he posted a social media video asking people to stay at home to protect the NHS and save lives.

After the news of the crash went viral, Grealish issued a video message on Twitter in which he said he was “deeply embarrassed”.

In the message, he said he had “stupidly agreed” to go to a friend’s house.

 

In court today, October 24 at Birmingham Magistrates’ Court Grealish admitted to one offence in connection with a collision involving his £80,000 Range Rover on March 29, while the second charge involved careless driving relating to allegations he drove without due care anud attention on the M42, in October.

 

But he denied two other charges of failing to stop and failing to report the incident, which occurred a matter of days into the first UK Covid-19 lockdown.

Since the Crown Prosecution Service offered no evidence in court regarding the two other charges Grealish denied, the charges were dismissed by the judge.

 

Grealish’s trial this afternoon proceeded in his absence as his plea was entered through his lawyer.

 

He is now set to face a driving ban.

Author, Odega Shawa nabs fraudster trying to defraud book readers on social media

Author Odega Shawa has nabbed a fraudster who was trying to defraud book readers of their hard-earned money online.

The fraudster created a fake account on Facebook with the username Ikenna Samuel and left comments asking people to send him a message to get copies of Odega Shawa’s latest novel titled Hello, Vagina.

Odega saw the comment and posed as an interested buyer. He sent a message to the number the Facebook user left to make enquiries.

The fraudster then gave him an account number to make payments for the book and it turns out the account owner has a different name from the name he’s using on Facebook. The account name of the fraudster is Ibrahim Muhammed.

When Odega asked to see a copy of the book, the fraudster had nothing to show, so he lied that the book is “packaged”.
