Police arrest 5 suspected traffic robbers in Lagos

Operatives attached to Ketu Division of the Lagos State Police Command have arrested five suspected traffic robbers.

 

Spokesperson of the command, SP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, who confirmed the arrest in a statement on Tuesday, October 13, said machineries have been set in motion to go after traffic robbers who harass and rob innocent Lagosians in the traffic within the state.

Adejobi said the suspects – Olasunkanmi Oyewole, Quadri Lawal, Abraham Olateju, Tunde Bello, and Olagoke Adewole were arrested on 9th and 12th October 2020 after they robbed two different men at Ketu end of Lagos/Ibadan expressway.

Meanwhile, the Commisioner of Police CP Hakeem Odumosu, has charged the officers and men of the command to brace up immediately and provide adequate security for all and sundry despite the ongoing protests across the state.

Odumosu stated this on Tuesday while addressing some officers at the command Headquarters in GRA, Ikeja, in preparation for police operational activities during the ember months.

While assuring Lagosians of adequate security during the ember months, the Commissioner also charged other Divisional Police Officers in the command to implement all the designed anti crime strategies by the command to curb traffic robbery and other crimes and criminality in their areas, even after the ember months.

Hoodlums killed police inspector and cut off his manhood – Ebonyi State Commissioner of Police

The Ebonyi State Commissioner of Police, Philip Maku, has disclosed how suspected hoodlums brutally murdered a police inspector, Egu Omini and cut off his manhood.

 

It will be recalled that hoodlums on Monday, October 26, attacked and burnt down the Central Police Station in Abakaliki. The irate mob also reportedly destroyed and set ablaze cars, tricycles and motorcycles parked in the compound

 

Maku, who disclosed this on Thursday October 29, in a statement issued by the spokesperson of the command, Loveth Odah, said the hoodlums also snatched inspector Omini’s  AK-47 rifle after attacking a police station.

According to the commissioner, the hoodlums regrouped in their large numbers on Monday and reinvaded the Central Police Station, Abakaliki, for the second time, setting the station ablaze including police patrol vehicles.

“Exhibit vehicles, tricycles/motorcycles and other police property seen within the station were burnt; they shot sporadically at the policemen, and as a result gruesomely murdered Insp. Egu Omini, cut off his private part and snatched his AK-47 riffle,”

“On October 21, the first of the protest in the state, two policemen, Paul Akpu and PC Ali Samson sustained bullet injuries and two days later one of the victims, Akpu died while on admission at Alex-Ekwueme Federal Teaching Hospital Abakaliki.

“The hoodlums proceeded to B Division KpiriKpiri/C Division Ekumenyi (Eke-Abe Police Station) and set the two stations on fire, after looting exhibit motorcycles, Plasma TVs, Fans and other valuables from the exhibit rooms.

“On Wednesday 28/10/2020 at about 4am, the hoodlums again stormed Ezza North Divisional Headquarters, vandalized the building, burnt two vehicles and Exhibit motorcycles. They shot and wounded One Insp. Okewu Sunday and snatched his AK-47 rifle. The victim is currently receiving treatment in the hospital,” the statement said.

Three telecom mast vandals nabbed in Akwa Ibom

The Joint security taskforce stationed along Ikot Abasi/Portharcourt Expressway  on Thursday, October 29, arrested three members of a syndicate, who specialized in vandalizing telecommunication masts in Ikot Abasi Local Government Area of the state and its environs.

 

The three hoodlums were nabbed at Ikot Okot, a village along Ikot Abasi /Oruk Anam road after they knocked down a woman on top of a motorcycle while trying to escape to Port Harcourt.

It was gathered that the suspects earlier this year, allegedly vandalized the Airtel mast at Ikpetim village in Ikot Abasi and killed someone in the process. Reports also have it that same syndicate had allegedly vandalized another mast at Ikot Okpotinua, in Ikot abasi few days ago.

However, luck ran out of them today as they attempted to steal some gadgets again along Ete/Oruk Anam Road.

The security personnel are still quizzing them to name other members of their gang who are still at large.

29-year-old man arrested for allegedly defiling his neighbor’s 7-year-old daughter in Anambra

The Anambra state police command has arrested a 29-year-old man identified as Ogbu Christian, for allegedly defiling his neighbor’s seven-year-old daughter at Anichie street in Okpoko, a community in the state on Tuesday, October 27.

 

A statement released by the spokesperson of the state police command, Haruna Mohammed, states that police operatives attached to Okpoko Division arrested the suspect who allegedly lured the victim and had unlawful carnal knowledge with her inside his room using biscuit as a bait.

Haruna said immediately the report was made at the station, police detectives visited the scene and took the victim to the hospital for medical Examination where penetration was confirmed by the medical doctor.

He said the case would be transferred to the State criminal investigation department for discreet investigation as directed by the Commissioner of Police CP John B.Abang, fdc, after which the suspect will be charged to court for prosecution.
