Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson tops Forbes’ list of highest-paid actors for the second year in a row

Forbes has released its Highest-Paid Actors List for the year 2020, and Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson claimed the top spot for the second year in a row.

The American actor and former wrestler made an estimated $87.5 million in 2020, after earning $89.4 million last year. 

Forbes pointed out that a large percentage of the 10 highest-paid actors made their earnings from Netflix. They all earned a collective $545.5 million, with $140.5 million of that from the streaming service.

According to Forbes’ findings, The Rock made $23.5 million from Netflix for his role in the yet-to-be-released film, Red Notice, and also cashed out on his collaborations with the clothes and headphones brand, Under Armour.

Coming in at the second-highest-paid spot was Ryan Reynolds with $71.5 million. $20 million of it came from his work alongside Dwayne Johnson in ‘Red Notice,’ another $20 million for the Netflix movie, ‘6 Underground.’

Mark Wahlberg came in third on the list with earnings of $58 million, stemming from his producer credits for ‘McMillions’ and Wahl Street’, along with his role in Netflix film, ‘Spenser Confidential.’

Ben Affleck, Vin Diesel, Akshay Kumar, Lin-Manuel Miranda, Will Smith, Adam Sandler, and Jackie Chan completed the list of Highest-Paid Actors List for the year 2020. 

The top ten richest actors on Forbes list with earnings being estimated from June 1, 2019, to June 1, 2020, are as follows:

  1. Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson – $87.5 million
  2. Ryan Reynolds – $71.5 million
  3. Mark Wahlberg – $58 million
  4. Ben Affleck – $55 million
  5. Vin Diesel – $54 million
  6. Akshay Kumar – $48.5 million
  7. Lin-Manuel Miranda – $45.5 million
  8. Will Smith – $44.5 million
  9. Adam Sandler – $41 million
  10. Jackie Chan – $40 million

Nigerian female disc jockey, DJ Cuppy has dispelled the notions that her billionaire dad, Femi Otedola opened doors for her success.

The singer who alongside her sisters was gifted a Ferrari worth over 80 million naira by dad was a guest on the Youtube Week held virtually where she spoke on different topics about music. Cuppy spoke on major principles that has helped her achieve success so far.

According to her, the belief that her Father’s connection made her popular is not in its entirety true. The “Orignal Copy” crooner said that even with her Father’s connection she still had to work hard on her own part to make it work out.

She further revealed that she had lost opportunities simply because she was not prepared or didn’t make proper use of them.

She added that she has a lot of opportunities but her hard work, determination, and business style took her to where she is.

She advised that one should just depend on connections but also try to be prepared, hone their skills, and deliver a standard service.

Cuppy said that no matter how many doors open for you, only your skill and delivery can keep you in those doors.

Mercy Johnson Sympathises With Kogi State and Families Affected after Tanker Gas Explosion.

Nollywood actress Mercy Johnson has in her post shown sympathy to all affected families who lost their relatives over the recent tanker gas explosion that happened in Kogi state, central Nigeria on Wednesday, 23 September 2020.

In the early hours of yesterday, the news of a sudden tanker gas explosion which killed minimum of 23 lives, was announced.

According to reports, Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps in the state, Idris Fika Ali, revealed that the tanker fell on the road and without delay, exploded, igniting at least two motorcycles, five cars, and three tricycles.

He further said that the victims were burnt beyond cognition.

Mercy Jonson has however expressed her sympathy and also extended her love to affected families.
