An alleged human trafficking kingpin, Muritala Sanni, has been arrested in Lagos after a five year manhunt.

 

A non-governmental organisation, Kick against Human Trafficking and Human Rights Abuse Foundation facilitated the arrest and handover to the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons for prosecution (NAPTIP)

It was gathered that Sanni was arrested last Wednesday, September 23, at his hideout in a hotel in the Amukoko area of Lagos State by policemen from the Amukoko Police Station.

 

Sanni was reportedly arrested after one of his victims was used as a bait to trick him to the hotel.

According to the president of Kick against Human Trafficking and Human Rights Abuse Foundation, Ojay Akinwale, his arrest was a major success for the organisation as his alleged trafficking network cut across Libya and East Africa.

Confirming the arrest of the suspect, the Public Relations Officer, NAPTIP, Hajara Tunde- Osho, said he will be prosecuted after investigation.

“The suspect was arrested on Wednesday, September 23, 2020, and handed over to us on Thursday, September 24, 2020. We will carry out our investigation and prosecute him afterwards,” she said.

One of the commanders of the late dreaded militant leader, Terwase Akwaza “Gana” has been arrested by soldiers.

 

Kamaor Fachii was arrested by the men of the Four Special Forces Command, Doma Local Government Area of Nasarawa at Katsina-Ala where he was said to be hiding at his girlfriend’s residence.

Commander of Four Special Forces Command, Doma Moundhey Ali Gadzama revealed that Fachii is the 76th member of the gang to be apprehended by the military and also assured members of the public that the military will continue to be on the trail of other gang members until they are all arrested.

Fake Nollywood star in EFCC net Over $7,000 romance scam

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Lagos Zonal office, has arrested one Ezekiel Sunday Emmanuel for allegedly defrauding an American national, Collins Meresha, to the tune of $7,000 USD (Seven Thousand Dollars).

 

A statement released by EFCC says Emmanuel, who presents himself as Frederick Nnaemeka Leonard, a Nollywood actor, was arrested on October 8, 2020 by officers of the Commission, following a report by the Chief Security Officer of Federal Airports Authority, FAAN, who caught him while engaging in a heated argument with Meresha on October 6, 2020.

It turned out that Meresha was invited to Nigeria by the suspect under the guise that he was Leonard, whom she had been dating online. She further alleged that she was, however, accosted on arrival at the airport by the suspect, whom she described as a “totally different person” from the Nollywood actor.” the statement in part read

Police arrest 5 suspected traffic robbers in Lagos

Operatives attached to Ketu Division of the Lagos State Police Command have arrested five suspected traffic robbers.

 

Spokesperson of the command, SP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, who confirmed the arrest in a statement on Tuesday, October 13, said machineries have been set in motion to go after traffic robbers who harass and rob innocent Lagosians in the traffic within the state.

Adejobi said the suspects – Olasunkanmi Oyewole, Quadri Lawal, Abraham Olateju, Tunde Bello, and Olagoke Adewole were arrested on 9th and 12th October 2020 after they robbed two different men at Ketu end of Lagos/Ibadan expressway.

Meanwhile, the Commisioner of Police CP Hakeem Odumosu, has charged the officers and men of the command to brace up immediately and provide adequate security for all and sundry despite the ongoing protests across the state.

Odumosu stated this on Tuesday while addressing some officers at the command Headquarters in GRA, Ikeja, in preparation for police operational activities during the ember months.

While assuring Lagosians of adequate security during the ember months, the Commissioner also charged other Divisional Police Officers in the command to implement all the designed anti crime strategies by the command to curb traffic robbery and other crimes and criminality in their areas, even after the ember months.
