President Muhammadu Buhari on Saturday, saluted previous President, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo for sacking a doctorate degree at the National Open University, NOUN.
Buhari depicted Obasanjo as the “Father of Open and Distance Education in Nigeria.”
The previous President, who was among the 14, 769 graduands, was deliberated with Doctor of Philosophy in Christian Theology, which made him the primary PhD result of the foundation.
Out of the number, 41 packed away top notch respects.
Buhari who was Represented by Prof. Abubakar Raheed, Executive Secretary, National Universities Commission, NUC, said that it was Obasanjo’s confidence in Open and Distance Learning that influenced him to enlist in NOUN.
“Obasanjo, as a result of his mission for quality instruction, could have selected to satisfy his want for college training in Ivy League colleges of the world and none of them could have denied him this open door.
“Thing and without a doubt Nigerians, will keep on appreciating your conviction, acknowledgment of and bolster for ODL in Nigeria; we are glad for you,” he said.
